Ciarán McCabe

Ciarán is a distinguished Chartered Engineer with over 15 years of expertise as a Building Services Engineer, specialising in Sustainability in the Built Environment. His career to date encompasses roles with various esteemed M&E consultancies across Ireland and the UK, culminating in the founding of Passive Dynamics in 2020.
Ciarán utilises state-of-the-art Building Performance Simulation Software to devise optimal solutions. His profound technical expertise in conceptual energy analysis, building physics, commissioning management, and green building certification consistently delivers exceptional value to building owners, design teams, and corporate clients. Notably, Ciarán was the first to achieve LEED Green Rater accreditation in Ireland.
Ciarán is dedicated to understanding the needs of clients and enhancing design performance beyond mere compliance. For him, it’s not just about meeting minimum standards but achieving the best sustainable design solutions. Ciarán believes in pushing boundaries, adopting International best practice and designing for performance while maintaining practical low carbon solutions.
Eoin Gahan

Eoin joined Passive Dynamics in January 2021 with expertise and has a keen interest in building energy performance. Eoin has a degree in Building Services Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Management from DIT. He has a wide range of experience from engineering design to site-based project management.
Eoin is a commissioning agent with Passive Dynamics and has a keen interest in building optimisation. The commissioning agent role applies systematic method of assuring that all building systems perform according to design standards and meet the needs/desires of the owner. The end goal is to deliver a building where all the building services are operating as intended and as efficiently as possible.
Eoin believes that sustainable engineering focuses on employing strategies which reduce the environmental impact of construction in the built environment.
John Treanor

John joined Passive Dynamics in February 2021 as a sustainability engineer. John gained experience in sustainable design and green building rating systems whilst working with detailed energy models as part of a sustainability team prior to joining Passive Dynamics.
Having completed a BEng in Building Services Engineering from Technological University Dublin in 2020, John has developed a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within the built environment with a focus on minimising their overall energy use.
Since joining Passive Dynamics, John has broadened his skillset, delivering a wide range of sustainability services to our clients including Advanced Energy Modelling, Net Zero Carbon Analysis, Natural Ventilation/Overheating Analysis, Part L and BER Assessments and Daylight/Sunlight Analysis. John also manages projects pursuing green building certification such as LEED – ensuring that the requirements of the rating system are captured from early design stage through to the commissioning phase and final LEED certification.
He is keen to expand his knowledge in all facets of sustainability within the built environment with a particular interest in supporting project teams in designing net zero carbon buildings through the use of innovative low-energy technologies, ongoing detailed energy modelling and applying Green Engineering Solutions.

Liam Guinan
Senior Sustainability Engineer
Non-Domestic BER Assessor, LEED Project Support Engineer, Passive House Consultant.

Liam joined Passive Dynamics in June 2022 as a Sustainability engineer. He had gained experience in sustainable design and green building rating systems whilst working across a variety of projects as part of a sustainability team prior to joining Passive Dynamics.
Having completed a BEng in Energy Systems Engineering from ITT (now Technology University of Dublin) in 2017, Liam has developed a comprehensive knowledge of the built environment with a focus on Reduction of energy use and carbon emissions through thermal modelling of building performance and development of energy strategies to ensure Low Carbon Design is and the key driver in the industry.
Since joining Passive Dynamics, Liam has developed his skillsets in the areas of passive design strategies and Low zero carbon feasibility studies to inform the design performance targets of clients, delivering a wide range of sustainability services to our clients including Thermal Load analysis, TGD Part L / NZEB Compliance assessments, Overheating Risk assessments and mitigation strategies, Daylight Sunlight and Shadow Impact analysis, Visual comfort analysis, Non-Domestic BER assessment and LEED certification across several different project types.
As part of his role Liam manages projects pursuing green building certification such as LEED – ensuring that the requirements of the rating system are captured from inception through to handover and final LEED certification.
He is keen to broaden his knowledge base in the ever expanding and crucial area of Sustainability in the built environment. Liam gets huge satisfaction in delivering sustainable solutions in today’s construction industry.
David Devlin

David joined Passive Dynamics in August 2022 after having previously worked in the HVAC industry for 4 years.
From his previous experience he was involved in HVAC system specifications for a range of residential and commercial projects.
Since joining Passive Dynamics he’s developed his sustainability and building services knowledge by working on overheating assessments, energy modelling and ensuring buildings are compliant with Part L.
David is a registered BER assessor (Domestic and Non-Domestic), Home Performance Index assessor, heat pump technical advisor and a passive house designer. He’s also experienced with other green building accreditations such as LEED and EU Taxonomy alignment. David is keen to work on innovative projects which push the boundaries on energy and carbon performance.
Vinnie Collins

Vinnie is a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Engineer with over eight years of experience in the MEP industry, spanning roles in Ireland and the United States. A graduate of the University of Galway with a degree in Energy Systems Mechanical Engineering, he combines his academic background with a strong focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and building performance analysis. Vinnie has also enhanced his expertise with a Diploma in Project Management, earning a distinction from University College Dublin.
At Passive Dynamics, Vinnie specialises in cutting-edge research and innovation, including Digital Twin technology for the built environment and operational energy performance analysis using CIBSE TM54. His experience includes HVAC system comparison analysis, thermal modeling and compliance with rigorous standards such as NZEB and BREEAM.
Vinnie’s dedication to advancing decarbonisation and his commitment to exceeding compliance standards align seamlessly with Passive Dynamics’ mission to drive sustainable innovation. Tony McDonnell

Tony is a highly experienced Senior Sustainability Engineer with over eight years of expertise in the built environment optimising energy and low carbon design pathways, building compliance, and occupancy comfort.
He graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Sustainable Energy Engineering from WIT (Now SETU) in 2016. He is a SEAI approved domestic/non-domestic BER assessor and a HPI assessor.
Tony specialises in helping clients and their design teams achieve compliance with standards like NZEB, EU Taxonomy, HPI, LEED and BREEAM while striving to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions while optimising occupancy comfort. His skill in dynamic simulation and thermal energy modelling has been instrumental in delivering practical and impactful sustainability solutions across a range of projects.
Tony’s desire to incorporate early-stage sustainable design principles into building design, decarbonisation pathways and achieving long-term sustainability goals makes him a valuable asset to the Passive Dynamics team.
Luke Farrell

Luke joined Passive Dynamics in July 2021 as a Sustainability Engineer. Having completed a BEng within the Built Environment from Technological University Dublin in 2020.
Since joining, Luke’s focus has been using IES VE to work on daylight studies, overheating modelling and Building Compliance. In recent months Luke has begun working on many LEED jobs and is currently working towards becoming a LEED GA.
He is keen to expand his knowledge in the wider areas of sustainability and hopes to continue learning about renewable technologies and their applications in building services.

Lalith Kumar

Lalith is a dedicated sustainability and energy consultant specialising in Sustainable Building Design and Energy Efficiency. He has proven his expertise in leading and delivering complex projects across the Middle East and India, focusing on achieving a more sustainable built environment.
He is a LEED accredited professional and holds a Consultancy Management Degree. Lalith has a strong background in mechanical engineering, enabling effective client communication, project management, and delivery of high-quality solutions. He has extensive experience in achieving and implementing various sustainability certifications, including LEED, BREEAM, Estidama, Mostadam, and other regional rating systems within UK, UAE & INDIA.
Lalith joined Passive Dynamics in January 2023 and is primarily focused to deliver 3D whole building simulations using industry-leading software to assess energy performance, daylighting, natural ventilation, overheating and building operational energy as per ASHRAE & CIBSE guidelines.
He is very passionate about developing and implementing strategies to reduce carbon footprints and achieve net-zero buildings for a sustainable future for all.

Adrián is an Architect, he joined our team in September 2023.
His expertise in architecture brings a unique and invaluable perspective to both our clients and our team. This background enables us to embrace a comprehensive approach to sustainability consulting, going beyond the conventional checklist to innovate and redefine the standards of sustainability within the built environment.
Since joining us in the role of Sustainability Consultant, Adrián has made substantial contributions towards achieving our sustainability goals. His dedication and innovative approach have been instrumental in advancing our mission.

Anshuja joined Passive Dynamics with a strong foundation in sustainable architecture and a passion for driving energy-efficient design.
With a Master’s degree in Sustainable Architecture Studies from The University of Sheffield, where she graduated with Merit and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Nagpur University, her academic and practical knowledge bring a valuable perspective to our team.
Anshuja’s expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Carbon Footprinting, IES VE, and Revit enhances our ability to deliver innovative sustainability solutions within the built environment.
Before joining Passive Dynamics, Anshuja gained hands-on experience in architectural design and modelling tools, including SketchUp, AutoCAD and Revit.
Her commitment to sustainability aligns seamlessly with our mission and her role will see her working closely with our diverse team of engineers and architects to create buildings that minimise environmental impact and maximise energy efficiency.

Osama joined the team in early 2024. He is educated at the University of Galway with a Master’s in Energy Systems and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team and has an extensive background in engineering and sustainability. His skillset covers everything from health and safety oversight to energy efficiency projects.
Osama’s hands-on experience in implementing ISO standards and his proactive approach in sustainability consulting help strengthen our position as Ireland’s only in-house team of Engineering Consultants focusing solely on Sustainability.
David Rimsa

David joined Passive Dynamics in August 2023, bringing enthusiasm, a passion for quality, and a fresh perspective to the team. His dedication and hands-on approach have quickly made a meaningful impact across key projects.
David’s main responsibilities include conducting overheating assessments, ensuring compliance with Part L regulations, and performing detailed energy assessments.
